We must have been in Target on the same day, but how did you miss the stuffed toy Peeps? I actually bought one of them. Well, I also bought a bit of chocolate, but only in egg and bunny form, promise.
I wonder if those plush “baskets” are any kin to character slippers? Once there were only bunny slippers. Now you can wear all kinds of critters on your feet. My dog thinks they’re really cool moving chew toys too….
“Before you know it, there are only five movie plots in Hollywood, only ten different toys on the shelves, and only one holiday repeated periodically throughout the year.”
Alas! Too late.
I am definitely of the traditional “bunny, basket, egg” school. I remember elaborate Easter baskets when I was younger. Great care was taken to fill them with unique treats, not the commercialized candy that you find at every drug store nowadays. It’s all the same stuff. Our family dye eggs the night before and by morning Mr. Rabbit has disbursed them throughout the house. The children collect them in the same Easter basket they have had from birth. Another big must is YELLOW peeps. Not bunnies, not pink, not blue, not green. YELLOW PEEPS. It’s all about tradition people!
Amen! What a shame. I wandered through the Easter section looking for ideas for my son’s Easter basket (the first Easter I’ve bothered-he was less than 2 months old last Easter). I was left with the feeling that I may not bother again this year. Maybe a yellow peep?
